Secret journal writers, open mic junkies, eloquent status updaters, kitchen table storytellers, daydreamers, night crawlers, napkin notetakers, distracted do-gooders and hopeful writers of all kinds:
In this workshop we will center the marginal, the magical, the in-between dwellers, the border crossers and specifically center the writing of women, trans folks, queers and people of color. Allies, outliers and writers at the intersections are welcome to participate in the workshop while knowing that these are the voices that will take precedence.
This is a weekly writing workshop for writers of all levels and genres. The workshop will provide exercises and prompts to get your writing going and generate new material. Each week we will take time to provide feedback on short excerpts of your work in progress and as desired by participants. Feedback will be timed and guided so as to center the writer’s desires for the work. Ultimately the focus of this workshop is on generating writing and creating a writing community; most of your editing will happen outside of the class.
We will write using samples of writers we like and or challenge us, personal objects and photographs I will ask you to bring in, and gentle movement to inspire all ways of storytelling.
Please submit at least a one to five page of a sample of your writing in any genre, (no more than five pages) to chachafiles@gmail.com and submit this short application who you are and what brings you to this writing workshop by *Oct. 5, 2015 midnight. (please note in your application your preference of a Tuesday or Sunday evening workshop)
Payment secures your spot. First come first serve.
Again, don’t be shy! All levels of writers welcome!
